Cepsa and ROR join forces to promote sustainability in land transport.

Vehicles from ROR Logistics Operator are already refueling at Cepsa Service Stations where the company supplies 100% HVO renewable diesel.

This biofuel reduces CO2 emissions by up to 90% over its entire life cycle compared to traditional fuels.

The signing of this agreement consolidates both companies’ commitment to the environment and the pursuit of sustainable alternatives in the logistics and transport sector.

León, April 22, 2024 – In a joint commitment to sustainability and emissions reduction, ROR Logistics Operator and Cepsa have sealed a collaboration agreement promoting the use of 100% HVO renewable diesel. This biofuel, produced by Cepsa at its La Rábida Energy Park (Huelva), is made from organic waste and used cooking oils, thereby fostering a circular economy.

The HVO, utilized by ROR Logistics Operator to meet the demands of some of its clients and on regular routes, positions itself as an immediate solution for the decarbonization of land transport, as it is a biofuel that, over its entire life cycle, achieves up to a 90% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to traditional fuels. One of the main advantages of 100% renewable diesel is its compatibility with current Euro 6 diesel engines, eliminating the need for investments or adaptations on the part of the vehicles.

Cepsa supplies HVO at four Service Stations located in several of the country’s main corridors and logistics hubs: Mercazaragoza (Zaragoza), Cerro de la Cabaña (Madrid), La Junquera (Girona), and La Cañada (Zamora), and plans to increase the reach of its network throughout 2024. Additionally, to ensure supply to its clients in land, maritime, and air transport, it is building, alongside Bio-Oils, the largest second-generation biofuel plant in Southern Europe, with an investment of 1.2 billion euros. This facility, set to be operational in 2026 in Palos de la Frontera (Huelva), will have flexible production capacity of 500,000 tons of renewable diesel and SAF.

For ROR Logistics Operator, this agreement represents a significant step forward in its sustainability strategy. “It facilitates our strong commitment to transport and logistics that are environmentally responsible,” emphasizes Jaime Estébanez, Director of Purchasing at ROR Logistics Operator.

This agreement adds to the various initiatives that ROR Logistics Operator has already implemented to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions, including energy-saving projects, fleet renewal, reduction of empty kilometers, optimization of logistics processes, and driver training in efficiency on the road.

Cédric Vigneau, director of Fleets & CRT at Cepsa, emphasized: “At Cepsa, we continue to invest in sustainable mobility and want to move towards the future by achieving a tangible impact starting from the present.”

With this agreement, ROR Logistics Operator and Cepsa demonstrate their shared commitment to sustainability and the environment, marking a milestone in the pursuit of sustainable solutions in the land transport sector.
